Leicester Solicitors Lawson-West are announcing details of Argos and Walmsley leather sofas that are alleged to cause severe skin allergy reactions. It appears three models of sofas - two from Argos and one from Walmsley are affected, and it is believed the problems are caused by a treatment or dyeing agent used by the manufacturer. Argos have withdrawn their Pia and Bari sofas, and are offering a refund or replacement. However, the Walmsley Marco suite is still being advertised on the company’s website today.
Personal Injury Partner Vicky Jones explained, “We have received several calls from people suffering severe skin reactions about these Pia, Bari and the Walmlsey Marco sofas since an article appeared in the News of the World newspaper on September 9th. My primary concern is that other people are suffering severe skin allergy reactions having purchased the affected sofas, but aren’t aware of the skin reaction problem yet.”
Both Argos and Walmsley sourced the affected sofas from the same furniture factory in China. Complaints received include scaly, blistered and itchy skin, with some sufferers requiring hospital treatment, and suffering extreme discomfort.
Vicky continued; “You may not get a skin reaction straight away, so I would urge people who have bought these sofas to be aware of the dangers. The batch numbers are 649 for the Bari suite and 599 for the Pia range. Argos are happy to replace your sofa if it is affected, but you will need specialist legal help if you want to claim compensation. We are already acting for a number of clients, from all over the country, some of whom have received emergency treatment as a result of their skin reactions.”
