The Bribery Act, which came into force on 1st July 2011 is the UK's continued commitment to the prevention and combat of bribery. The Act will create general offences of bribery but it is clear that there is also a distinct focus on commercial bribery.

What is Bribery?

Bribery is essentially the receiving or offering of any reward in order to influence behaviour to someone's advantage. The bribe influences the person to act in a way that is contrary to the rules and results in them acting in a dishonest manner.
More detail on the implications of the Act can be found below. For more information on how it could affect your business and employees, and on how to implement measures that provide protection, please contact David Heys on 0116 212 1027.
