The process can be time consuming and complicated and given the financial amounts involved it is important to make sure that the loan is repaid or refinanced properly and the loan provider (Homes and Communities Agency or Homes England) are removed from the register of your property. Alternatively, sometimes only part of the loan will be redeemed and you will need to obtain a memorandum of staircasing to record the equity mortgage that remains.
