“How will the future look for Leicester City Centre?”

At this exclusive networking lunch we welcomed our keynote speakers Sarah Harrison (Leicester City Centre Director) and Stephen Fern (Managing Director of 200 Degrees).

Our panel of experts joined by Senior Commercial Property Solicitor Russell Dowling of Lawson West’s commercial property team, discussed city centre growth, property and future and there was an opportunity to ask questions of the panel.

• The experts confirmed that a core strategy to continue to develop the city centre was to include more residential property development within the heart of the city, which would then help to bolster local people enjoying local Leicester city spaces within a short walking distance, offering easy access to restaurants, cafes, cinema, theatre and all the social diversity that Leicester has to offer.
• Retail outlets will benefit from the increased footfall too and this will have a knock-on effect to benefit the propserity of other city centre businesses and shops.
• As well as the city’s historic covered market having a £7.5m upgrade which is about to start, offices and commercial builds will also have to adjust to being “the right type of commercial property, built in the right place” to satisfy modern demand and the needs of employers in a post-covid work world.
• Leicester has a really good selection of property types right across the region, many of which are suitable to be transformed internally to cater for new innovative work-life-balance environments, encouraging staff to come back into their place of work and once again enjoy being with their colleagues and meeting customers face-to-face and enjoying the city’s outside spaces.
