Lawson-West your legal partner for life
In response to recent publicity about Personal Injury, and the threat of budget cuts at the Justice department, the Chief Executive of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) has said in an interview with the Nottingham Post that injured people “must remain at the heart of the system.”

Denise Kitchener has led APIL for nearly twenty years. The Association represents over 4500 solicitors and barristers, and fights for the rights of people who have been injured through no fault of their own. Ms Kitchener commented: "I understand that in the current climate, cost-cutting needs to be looked at. But it should not deny individuals the right of access to justice. I don't want to see access to justice denied as a result of cost-cutting when things happen to people which weren't their fault and someone has been negligent in whatever manner. They must have the ability to recover, get themselves rehabilitated and back on track. These people are very vulnerable."

With the existing ‘Conditional Fee Agreement’ system under scrutiny, APIL is concerned that potential new legislation may be brought into force, particularly concerning how cases are paid for, which may stop people claiming compensation that they are entitled to, and really need to help get themselves back on track.
