The High Court ordered compensation payments to be made to the first 2,000 claimants for injury compensation following severe allergic reactions from sofas containing the chemical DMF bought from Argos, Walmsleys and some Land of Leather stores.
Claimants, who suffered chemical burns, blistering and severe rashes, will get between £1,200 - £9,000 each depending on the severity of their symptoms plus further compensation for loss of earnings and similar expenses where appropriate.
There will be a further hearing on 21 May where around 2,500 further cases will be considered. Lawson-West solicitors will continue to provide updates in this matter.
