Lawson-West your legal partner for life

A pregnant administrator won her Employment Tribunal claim for unlawful sex discrimination after she said she was forced to resign due to her employer’s behaviour.

When she notified her employer of her pregnancy, the employee claimed her employer became unsympathetic:

•         When she arrived later in the morning due to morning sickness, she was told to get up earlier in the morning so it didn’t affect her arrival time.

•         When she developed problems with fainting and needed to make medical appointments, she was threatened with disciplinary action.

The employer denied the allegations and complained about her lateness and absences caused by her pregnancy.

The Employment Tribunal awarded her over £5,000 for loss of earnings and a further £10,000 for sex discrimination and injury to feelings after finding the employee had been less favourably treated due to pregnancy.

If you are working whilst pregnant and experiencing problems with your employer or having problems returning to work after maternity leave, please call either Ashley Hunt, Vaishali Thakerar or Carrie-Ann Randall on 0116 212 1000 now or complete one of the on-line forms.
