Both Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council are reporting an increase in reports of problems with potholes after the recent snowy weather. Heavy rain, snow and frost seep into cracks in the road surface and then expand when temperatures fall below freezing. Expanding ice then puts pressure on the roads, causing them to swell and break, particularly where traffic is heavy.
