Gas Canisters in Hair Tongs - Handle with Care

Leicester Solicitors Lawson-West are warning users of hair tongs with refillable gas canisters to take extra care after reports of such a canister exploding, causing 40% burns to four friends as well as setting off a house fire. The gas canisters are used to provide a portable heat source for hair straighteners or curlers.

Personal Injury Solicitor Elizabeth Lawrenson explained, “Four friends were getting ready for a Christmas party when the gas canister in a pair of hair tongs exploded and caught fire. The friends managed to escape the fire but suffered 40% burns and are currently in a critical, but not life-threatening, condition in hospital. They will require skin grafts for the burns.”

Elizabeth continued, “You will need specialist legal help if you want to claim compensation for burns and other personal injuries caused by such faults.
