Keith Lawson-West retires from Lawson-West Solicitors at Christmas after thirty years with the firm he founded. Keith has decided to take early retirement to enable him to devote more time to the voluntary sector - while still young enough to make a difference.
The firm has enjoyed significant growth over the years, and today has four offices in Wigston, Market Harborough and on Uppingham Road, Leicester. It employs nearly 60 staff and partners, and branched out into Estate Agency in 2002. In 2003, Lawson-West won the Leicestershire Business Award for Success through People, and came second place in the overall Business of the Year category.
Keith commented: “I have always tried to instil an ethos of care into the business and to make law accessible to people, for example by offering free appointments, and working on a no win no fee basis in my role as a litigator for the firm’s Personal Injury department.”
Firmly committed to helping the homeless, Keith has been working with the Salvation Army for several years, helping out on soup runs, collecting clothing and fundraising too. He plans to increase his involvement in such charity work during his retirement. Keith is also a member of the Christian Lawyers Association, a body which has set up a number of legal aid centres in East Africa and plans to open more in the future. Keith is flying out to Africa on March 16th for a three week trip to kickstart his involvement with the legal aid centres.
