Lawson-West urge victims of asbestos-related diseases to make a claim as early as possible with solicitors who have experience and can maximise compensation for them and their families.
Mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer, develops after many years of exposure to asbestos. The cancer is fatal. Often it is left to widows to pursue their late husband's former employers for compensation. It can be very difficult to trace every employer who exposed a victim to asbestos. Many will have gone out of business before the mesothelioma was diagnosed.
Making a claim may be the last thought in a sufferer's mind when they are given such a devastating diagnosis, but they and their families need expert help as soon as possible. Vicky Jones, Personal Injury Partner at Lawson-West, comments, "The Compensation Act enables mesothelioma sufferers who have been negligently exposed to asbestos to receive full compensation as quickly and easily as possible."
Lawson-West client, Mr Morris, described the impact on his late wife, "I worked with asbestos in the early 60s with different companies. My wife worked at a hospital and it is feared she may have been exposed to asbestos through lagged pipes in the laundry room. She may also have been exposed to asbestos through my dusty work clothes, which she always washed.
"She was a very brave lady and she tried to get on with her life, despite her devasting illness."
