Recent research has confirmed that over 7,500 pedestrians were killed or seriously injured in accidents on our roads in 2004.
Pedestrians represent 12% of all road accident casualties but 21% of all road accident deaths. Whilst cars are becoming safer for drivers, pedestrians are still at risk of serious injury from accidents. Recently we acted for a lady who was knocked down whilst she was crossing the road. Having suffered terrible injuries our client fought on and achieved a good recovery.
We were very happy to be able to send her a cheque for over £30,000 in settlement of her compensation to make life that little bit easier. This is despite the fact that the police had decided not to prosecute the driver who'd caused the accident.
This is not a unique accident and we regularly act for pedestrians or cyclists who have suffered accident injuries caused by drivers even when the police choose not to prosecute the driver concerned.
Lawson-West are taking part this year in Road Safety Week which runs from 6th - 12th November by setting up competitions with local schools to win bikes and safety gear.
