Attractive suburb of Leicester City, Knighton borders Stoneygate/Clarendon Park, and Wigston.
Knighton Park won a lottery award in 2006 to create a play area for older children and teenagers and in 2007 hosted the Knighton Park Festival, organised by the Friends of Knighton Park users group. The park offers a nine hole pitch and putt course, two five-a-side football pitches, two hard surface tennis courts, three orienteering courses, one rounders pitch, four football pitches, cricket and a grass athletics track. Carisbrooke Lawn Tennis Club are based on Carisbrooke Road, near the Bowls Club. Leicester Knighton Fields Swimming Club meet at Aylestone Leisure Centre and have recently gained a Swim21 accreditation from the Amateur Swimming Association
Local Schools include at secondary level: Sir Jonathan North Community College which specialises in Arts, Science and Mathematics and Lancaster Boys School. At primary level there are Overdale Infant and Junior Schools, Knighton Fields Primary School and Manorbrooke Special School.
Places of worship include St Mary’s Church, St Guthlac’s Church, both Church of England and Knighton Evangelical Free Church.
