Recent statistics show that 32% of British people are adding provisions to their Will to ensure that their social media pages are maintained and updated after they die.

Out of 2000 adults surveyed, 52% stated that they would like to keep their Facebook page active whereas a lesser 18% wished to keep all of their social media accounts maintained.

However, they were far less inclined to keep their Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram pages updated.

Of those who said they wanted their accounts maintained, 37% would choose their spouse or partner, 32% would choose their children and 19% would want their best friend to do it.

A similar number to those who wished to keep their accounts maintained had no interest in anyone else updating them when they couldn’t do it any longer and would prefer that their accounts were deleted altogether.

None of my current clients have made any requests relating to social media, however, there are a number of ways that you can leave your legacy which include trusts and donations to charity.
